Visit to Ukrainka within the framework of the EU project "Covenant of Mayors - Demonstration Projects"

How to find a financial opportunity to modernize socially important facilities for citizens

The answer to this question was found in the city of Ukrainka.

The Climate and Energy Covenant of Mayors initiative was launched in October 2015, setting new horizons and voluntary commitments: to reduce CO2 emissions by 30% by 2030 compared to the base year.

As a result, the signatory cities of the Covenant of Mayors had the opportunity to receive a grant to implement such initiatives. At the first stage (2014-2019) 17 projects were selected, at the second (2018-2021) - 14, including the city of Ukrainka.

These projects should in practice show other cities the feasibility of implementing energy efficiency measures

Currently, the city of Ukrainka is in the final stages of implementing the project "Energy Monitoring and Thermal Modernization of Buildings Using Renewable Energy Sources in Ukrainka", funded by the European Union.

the Kyiv Regional State Administration team was the beneficiary of this project, and Department of Economics and Digitalization is the coordinator in the implementation.

ℹ️As part of the project, a comprehensive thermal modernization of the Energetik sports complex has already been carried out, and final works on the thermal modernization of the Energetik Palace of Culture in the city are underway.

Today, July 15, 2021, at the initiative of the European Union "Covenant of Mayors - Demonstration Projects" (CoM-DeP) was held in the city of Ukrainka Ukrainka EU CoM-DeP / EU Project "CoM-DeP" in Ukrainka

During the event, Deputy Mayor of Ukraine Ruslan Sadovsky, Head of the EU Initiative "Covenant of Mayors - Demonstration Projects" Jan Edwin Vaanders, key expert of the EU Support Initiative "Covenant of Mayors - Demonstration Projects" Dmytro Ivanenko, , identified obstacles that arose during its implementation and discussed future long-term plans to improve the lives of city residents.

Representatives of the Department of Economics and Digitalization of the Kyiv Regional State Administration, in particular Kachan Yulia, also joined the event.

In addition, the total cost of the project is 1,078,185 euros, of which 75% - 808,640 euros - a non-refundable grant from the EU, the rest of the city budget.
