On October 7, the Department of Economics and Digitalization of the Kyiv Regional State Administration conducted an online training for employees of local governments and other stakeholders in the regional development of Kyiv region on writing project applications and participating in international competitions and grant programs.
Natalia Pogrebna, Director of the Department of Economics and Digitalization, stressed the importance of project activities in the work of territorial communities to attract resources for the development of their territories and create conditions for the activities of regional development actors. A large number of international events go unnoticed by local authorities due to the lack of knowledge of project management and lack of experience in implementing projects involving international partners.
The participants of the training received information about new opportunities to participate in grant competitions of the European Union in selected areas of smart specialization of Kyiv region and learned about successful examples of participation of Ukrainian organizations in EU programs.
Tetyana Kotenko, Fundraising and Grantwriting Specialist, Head of Horizon Europe UIS, gave an overview of open competitions in which territorial communities can take part. regional and national strategies. This is the main condition under which European partners consider the possibility of implementing projects and the participation of Ukrainian participants in projects.
Oleksandra Pravdyva, a key expert of the NGO Club of Economists, focused on the following issues:
• how to register a legal entity on the Funding & Tenders Portal of the European Union in order to be able to participate in grant competitions?
• how to navigate the competition and choose a competition in accordance with the needs and activities of the organization?
• how to find a partner for the project?
• how to prepare a project application?
Lilia Kalachniuk (NULES) and Taisiya Simochko (Uzhhorod National University) represented the national contact points of the Horizon 2020 work program “Food Security, Sustainable Agriculture, Marine Research and Bioeconomics”. Their presentations highlighted the experience of implemented projects and practical recommendations for writing project applications and proposals.
