A decision was made to create a food industry cluster in Kyiv region.

25 листопада 2021 року відбулась стратегічна сесія, яка стала фінальним заходом цього року процесу підприємницького відкриття (EDP) у сфері смарт-спеціалізації Київської області «Виробництво інноваційних харчових продуктів з вдосконаленими споживними якостями (функціональна їжа)» і логічним продовженням теми кластеризації, розпочатої на початку року.

As Vasyl Volodin, the head of the Kyiv Regional State Administra-tion, noted ‘The development of the food industry is extremely important thing. Our health depends mainly on the products we consume. Therefore, the high quality and environmental friendliness of the products we want to achieve owing to such associations are paramount. The economic component is of no less importance. Thanks to entrepreneurs' taxes, the Kyiv region has the opportunity to build new roads, schools, and improve its infrastructure in general. The cluster will help entrepreneurs grow their business and pay more taxes.’

The event was opened by Natalia Pohrebna, Director of Economics and Digitalization Department, noting that the cluster can support the innovative component of food enterprises, on the one part, and promote a culture of healthy and balanced nutrition by people, on the other.

In addition, representatives of the All-Ukrainian Association of Bakers, the National Association of Patent Attorneys of Ukraine, the Club of Economists, the Agency for Regional Development of Kyiv region and its Fastiv branch spoke among the experts.

Olena Boiko, Deputy Head of the Economic Development Department - Head of the Strategic Planning and Analytics Division of the Economics and Digitization Department of KRSA presented the results of a questioning entrepreneurs and scientists on the creation of the above-mentioned innovation cluster.

The event was attended by Kyiv Bakery House LLC, Sunny Goga LLC, Olvin Plant LLC, Agritema LLC, Zeelandia State Enterprise, Khlibna Sprava Craft Bakery LLC.

Science was represented by the National University of Food Technologies, the Institute of Food Resources of NAAS of Ukraine, D. F. Chebotaryov Institute of Gerontology of NAMS of Ukraine, Institute of Bioenergy Crops and Sugar Beets, Institute of Potato of NAAS, Institute of Innovative Bioeconomics, Institute of Economics and Forecasting of NAS of Ukraine.

The group work was also performed to help identification of factors, which, in the opinion of the participants, will be the most conducive to the creation and operation of the cluster and those that will most hinder it.
